The Wisconsin Card Sorting Test has been the field’s primary instrument for measuring cognitive flexibility and executive control for over seven decades — in clinical research, neuropsychological assessment, and performance evaluation worldwide.
The WCST is a gold-standard clinical instrument. Originally developed in 1948 and refined extensively since, it remains the most widely validated measure of cognitive flexibility in neuropsychological practice and neuroscience research.
Perseverative errors are the primary clinical marker of inflexibility. Continuing to apply a rule the task has already moved past is the specific behavior WCST-based protocols are designed to measure, and what Cogello Flex tracks every session.
